A reprint costs more than any price difference between shops. Run your file through these six checks before you order anything and you'll get sharp, edge-to-edge prints the first time. Not sure about one? That's what we're here for — every Crown Owl order includes a free file check.
- 1Size & bleed. Build at the final size plus 0.125" bleed on every side, so trimming never leaves a white sliver. A 3.5×2 card is set up at 3.75×2.25.
- 2Resolution. 300 DPI at final size. Images pulled off a website (72 DPI) look fine on screen and print blurry. Bigger original = sharper print.
- 3Color mode. Print is CMYK, screens are RGB. Bright RGB blues and greens can print muddy — convert to CMYK (or let us do it) so what you see is what you get.
- 4Safe zone. Keep logos, text and anything important at least 0.125" inside the trim line so nothing gets cut off.
- 5Fonts. Outline or embed your fonts (or send a PDF) so your type prints exactly as designed — no font swaps.
- 6Proof it. Read every word out loud, double-check the phone number and web address, and view at 100%. Typos are the #1 cause of "can we redo it?"
